To the victor goes the … picture with Urkel?

The Huskies’ troubles in Pauley Pavilion have been well documents (including in my story today).

However, it seems the Huskies have new incentive for their visit to UCLA tomorrow: a possible photograph with Steve Urkel … or more accurately, Jaleel White, who played the character on the “Family Matters” sit-com and who is to UCLA home games something like what Jack Nicholson is to Lakers games.

Here’s Quincy Pondexter’s take on at least part of Pauley’s mystique:

“To see Urkel at courtside – you might see someone else — you think, ‘Man, I wonder if John Wooden’s watching this. … It always brings out butterflies in everyone. It’s one of those arenas like Madison Square Garden or Staples Center where you always want to play there because of all the great tradition, all the other players who have sweated blood on that court.”

And from Isaiah Thomas: “Steve Urkel at a game. That’s crazy. I’m looking forward to seeing him again. If we win, I’ll try to get a picture with him.”
