Isaiah Thomas’ 17 point performance today at UCLA launched him past four former Huskies and up to 16th place on the school’s all-time scoring list.

One of the players he passed was Paul Fortier, now a UW assistant.

“I just congratulated him,” Fortier said. “I knew he was coming up there, because I knew the other names that he was coming up to. I knew I was a name as well. I’m happy for Isaiah. As I told him after in the locker room, I’m happy that he passed me. He’s a great person.”

Justin Holiday is a senior and a UW co-captain. But he picked up an uncharacteristic technical foul midway through the first half today, immediately after nailing a 3-pointer from in front of the UCLA bench.

“I was talking, that’s all I can say,” Holiday explained. “I will admit I was talking. I wanted to get the win. It was selfish on my part. But we still won, thank God.”
If the technical foul call was surprising, Holiday said coach Lorenzo Romar’s displeasure was not.

It was about the only thing about Washington football’s Holiday Bowl night that wasn’t in synchronicity.

Coach Steve Sarkisian shared the post-game podium with quarterback Jake Locker, running back Chris Polk and linebacker Mason Foster – the stars of the Huskies’ 19-7 shocker over 17th-ranked Nebraska.

One reporter pointed to each of the team members, and asked what was next.

Heads swiveled, searchign for answer – all before Foster blurted out, “Go to Disneyland!”

The Huskies are off to a 2-0 start in the Pac-10, capping the LA sweep today with a 74-63 win over UCLA.

Matthew-Bryan Amaning led the way for Washington with 21 points. Isaiah Thoams added 17.

As you can see from the photo above, UCLA has begun two seasons of work to renovated hallowed-but-not-really-very-fan-friendly Pauley Pavilion. This home season is playing out around the construction, and the Washington Huskies will meet the Bruins here at 1 p.m. today. (Here’s our preview story.)

As for the current construction, it’s mostly on the outside — which will be inside in the new Pauley’s wider concourses. However, a few interior changes have been made: shifting of the concession stands to inside the arena and — most notably — most of the restrooms are now portable toilets outside.

The Huskies were stuffed on a fourth-and-goal run by Chris Polk at the Nebraska 1, but got a safety when Cornhuskers tackle D.J. Jones was called for offensive holding on Alameda Ta’amu at the 13:38 mark.

Jake Locker’s arm and legs now have the Huskies up, 17-7.

The senior completed a 25-yard pass on an out-route to D’Andre Goodwin on third-and-7, then rumbled by Nebraska cornerback Prince Amukamara on a 25-yard run up the right seam for a touchdown.

The UW was set up at its own 47-yard line after a 15-yard facemask penalty on Anthony West on the kickoff return.

Through three quarters, the UW has 187 rushing yards, to Nebraska’s 92.

Anybody see this halftime score coming?

UW up, 10-7.

UW has more rushing yards than Nebraska, 102-54.

The Huskies did survive a major scare when quarterback Jake Locker, on a third-down run, took a violent blow to the head as he was sliding down on a third-down run by Nebraska safety Austin Cassidy, and stayed motionless on the field for minutes in the second quarter of the Holiday Bowl.

He did eventually limp off the field after his 3-yard scamper at the 8:40 mark. Keith Price came on for the rest of the series before the Huskies punted.
