Coach Lorenzo Romar and true freshman guard C.J. Wilcox have decided that Wallace will redshirt this season.

“We’ve been talking about it ever since I’ve been recruited,” Wilcox said. “It was always an option. I guess today we finally sat down and really went through how it was going to be and decided that that was the best thing for me this year.”

Romar said that Wilcox had all-conference potential and could have been in the rotation this season, but that he thinks his overall career could benefit by waiting one season. Romar seems to believe the guard rotation of Thomas/Overton/Gaddy will be enough this season.

However, Wilcox had been billed as perhaps the Huskies’ best outside shooter — along with Elston Turner.

Asked if he’s got enough outside shooting this season without Wilcox, Romar said, “We hope so.”
