The Stafon Johnson accident was a popular topic among those watching practice Monday. Sad. The USC tailback will miss the season.

ARIZONA: A year later, Ross gets redemption, and not fried, on a long pass against Oregon State. It helped net a much-needed win.

ARIZONA STATE: Suddenly, Erickson facing his old team (Oregon State) becomes pivotal game to both teams’ postseason chances.

CALIFORNIA: It was originally dubbed the early-October meeting for the Pac-10 title. Now, it’s just another ordinary Cal-USC matchup.

OREGON: Nobody is really sure what the status of Thurmond (knee) is for the coming weeks. Coach Chip Kelly ain’t saying.

OREGON STATE: Erickson really greasing up his former team before Beavers-Sun Devils matchup this weekend.

UCLA: Just when things couldn’t get any better, they did for the Bruins – Ramirez is healthy and back in the offensive backfield.

USC: Freak weightlifting accident puts touted Johnson out for the rest of the season for the Trojans.

WASHINGTON STATE: Well, that didn’t take long. One week after saying true freshman Jeff Tuel would be in the mix at quarterback, coach Paul Wulff has named him the starter after his good showing in mop-up duty against USC (and just proof that UW coach Steve Sarkisian isn’t the only one who has made newcomers off limits to the media, Wulff is doing the same with Tuel this week).
