The top two — perhaps only two — Huskies expected to be taken in the NFL draft both went early today, as the Dallas Cowboys selected quarterback/receiver/returner Isaiah Stanback, and the San Francisco selected safety Dashon Goldson.

In a brief phone conversation I had with Stanback, he said he was very excited to go to a team with the great tradition of the Cowboys, but he was disappointed to hear that they plan to use him only at receiver and kick returner, not quarterback.

I’m also hearing that the Seahawks have spoken to both Kenny James and Shelton Sampson about signing on as free agents, and it now looks like they’re going to pull the trigger on James. Sampson is talking with a couple of other teams.
