The Huskies are slowly working back toward the middle of the Pac-10 standings, and the next step is a big one. If the Huskies beat Arizona tomorrow, they will move into sixth place in the league standings … which is more important than it might sound.

The Pac-10 coaches have been predicting that six league teams will make the NCAA tournament … and that likely means the first six finishers.

More certainly, the new format for the Pac-10 tournament gives first-day byes to the first six finishers … they start Thursday, while the seventh-through-10th finishers play each other on Wednesday. That is a big difference, most everyone agrees.
