The first game of the Basketball Travelers Classic just opened with a surprisingly competitive game, Northern Iowa beating Nicholls State, 68-63.

At 7:30, Washington will open its season against Pepperdine. (The Huskies just took the floor.) The game will be shown on FSN with radio broadcast on 950-AM.

Nothing officially announced, btw, but the word is that Lorenzo Romar will probably go with the same starters he used in the exhibition game – Brockman, Dentmon, Appleby, Pondexter and Wallace – and then send Spencer Hawes in after three or four minutes.

I’ll jump in with a halftime report, and then again after the game. And, as has become our custom with football, it would be great to hear what any of you watching from home might have thought of these new-look Huskies.
