UW coach Lorenzo Romar’s reactions to Brandon Roy and Bobby Jones’ selection in the NBA draft Wednesday night: “I’m just like a proud papa. I’m excited for those guys that they’re both going to have great, great opportunities to get their dreams met.”

ON ROY IN THE ROSE CITY: I think he will fit in just fine. I think playing for Nate McMillan and his staff is going to be just right for him. I’m very happy for him.

SUMMING UP ROY’S CAREER AT UW: He joined us late as a freshman, he got in condition, he came in as a sophomore and played a very good brand of team basketball. He got hurt as a junior early in the year, when he was on his way to having a phenominal year. He came off the bench for us, which had nothing to do with his ability. His senior year, he emerged as a leader and the go-to guy for this team. he became a first-team All-American and probably the best all-around player in this draft.
