CLEARED: Collision on southbound I-5 in Milton blocking HOV lane

UPDATE at 4:10 p.m. All lanes are now open, WSDOT reports.

INITIAL POST” A collision is blocking the HOV lane on southbound Interstate 5 in Milton, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The accident occurred about 3:45 p.m. just south of the Federal Way weigh station at milepost 140.

Washington State Patrol troopers and paramedics are on scene.

I-705 closed tonight southbound

Interstate 705 Southbound will be closed tonight from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.to allow the contractor working on the Murray Morgan Bridge to pour a section of the sidewalk on the City approach (11th and A Street). The on ramp from South Stadium Way/Commerce Street onto I-705 Southbound will be closed with a detour route south on Commerce Street, left on South 13th Street to use the on ramp onto I-705 Southbound. The on ramp from South 9th Street/A Street onto I-705 Southbound will also be closed with a detour route south on Pacific Avenue, left on South 13th Street

SR 7 in Eatonville reopens after slope stabilization

A five-mile section of state Route 7 in Eatonville reopened this afternoon after being closed since Monday, according to the state Department of Transportation.

Crews had been completing slope stabilization work on the highway between Alder Lake and La Grande after a landslide dumped more than 300 cubic yards of debris on SR 7 in April.

About 1,600 drivers take this route daily, WSDOT said.

SR 520 floating bridge to open for sailboat at 7 p.m.; expect delays

Drivers using the state Route 520 floating bridge this evening should expect delays while crossing Lake Washington.

The state Department of Transportation will be opening the bridge at 7 p.m. to allow a 55-foot sailboat to pass through. Half hour delays are to be expected.

Vessels taller than 45 feet cannot fit under the west highrise of the floating bridge, WSDOT said. The east highrise channel is closed for construction of the new SR 520 bridge.

New rules for Hood Canal Bridge openings

The Coast Guard won’t open the Hood Canal Bridge for pleasure boats during afternoon rush hours this summer.

From May 22 through Sept. 30, bridge tenders won’t open the bridge for pleasure craft between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

Military and commercial tug and tow vessels are exempt from the new rule. Openings for those vessels will be scheduled and conducted as usual.

Delays near Alaska and South 56th streets this weekend

Expect traffic delays near Alaska Street and South 56th Street this weekend
On Friday, May 11, at 7 p.m. a contractor will start replacing the sanitary sewer line from the intersection of South 56th Street and Alaska Street onward to South 60th Street. Due to the large volume of traffic in this area, the work needs to be performed at night and on weekends.

Traffic restrictions are required to complete the work. Westbound traffic will be detoured at Yakima Avenue to South 72nd Street. Eastbound traffic will be reduced to one lane with a uniformed officer controlling the flow.
