On ramp from SR 16 to northbound I-5 to close at 11 p.m. for repair work after crash

The on ramp from state Route 16 to northbound Interstate 5 will close at 11 p.m. tonight as crews work to fix damage from a crash this afternoon, according to the state Department of Transportation.

An errant vehicle damaged an accordion-like device that’s designed to absorb energy from crashes into barriers and other fixed objects, according to the state.

The ramp will reopen by 4 a.m. Friday.

Further details about the crash itself were not immediately available.

CLEARED: Crash blocking westbound state Route 18 east of C Street in Auburn

UPDATE as of 10:40 p.m. All lanes are clear, according to the state Department of Transportation.

CLEARED: Backups on eastbound SR 512 and northbound I-5 after wreck

A car wreck at eastbound state Route 512 and Portland Avenue East is causing a three-mile backup, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The crash, which happened about 3:15 p.m., is also causing a backup on northbound Interstate 5 from Bridgeport Way Southwest, department officials said.

Troopers are on the scene.

All lanes are open.

CLEARED: Accident on SR 167 in Waller/Puyallup blocking northbound lanes

A rollover collision on state Route 167 in Waller/Puyallup is blocking the northbound lanes, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The crash occurred about 3:15 a.m. at milepost 2.01 near 50th Avenue East. Crews estimate the lanes won’t be open until 5 a.m. Traffic is getting around the scene using a turn-lane.

State troopers are on scene.

CLEARED: Crash causing backups on southbound I-5 and westbound SR 512 just north of Bridgeport Way

UPDATE as of 3:45 p.m.: All lanes are cleared, but a four-mile backup remains, according to the state Department of Transportation.

INITIAL POST: A crash that happened at 12:45 p.m. just north of Bridgeport Way on southbound Interstate 5 is causing mile-long backups on both southbound I-5 and state Route 512, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The two right lanes of southbound I-5 are blocked.

State Patrol troopers are at the scene.
