UPDATED: Bus routes, roads will be impacted today by memorial for Mt. Rainier ranger

UPDATED at 6:54 a.m.

Pierce Transit is warning riders this morning that its routes in Parkland and Lakewood will likely be impacted by today’s memorial service for a slain Mount Rainier law enforcement ranger.

The memorial for ranger Margaret Anderson begins at 1 p.m. on the campus of Pacific Lutheran University.

Beforehand, there will be a procession of law enforcement and other emergency services vehicles from the Mountain View Funeral Home to the university. The procession is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m.

ALL CLEAR: Crash blocks lanes of I-5 in Lakewood

UPDATED at 6:40 a.m.

Crews have reopened all lanes of of southbound Interstate 5 in Lakewood after a multiple-vehicle crash initially blocked all lanes.

The accident occurred at Berkeley Street just after 6 a.m., the state DOT reports. Troopers and firefighters responded.

Traffic is backed up past Bridgeport Way.

Drivers should expect “big backups and delays,” DOT reports. They are encouraged to take alternative routes.

UPDATED: Crash blocks lane of I-5 in Lakewood

UPDATED at 1:18 p.m.

All lanes are now cleared from a crash that was blocking the left lane of northbound Interstate 5 in Lakewood this afternoon, according to the state DOT.

The crash is near Berkeley Street. Troopers and firefighters are on the scene.

Traffic is backed up six miles to Center Drive in DuPont.

Car vs. pedestrian blocking eastbound SR 512 in Lakewood

A collision involving a car and a pedestrian is blocking the eastbound lanes of state Route 512 at South Tacoma Way in Lakewood, according to the state Department of Transportation.

State troopers are on scene and drivers are getting around the area on the shoulder.

UPDATE as of 3:45 p.m.

All lanes are open, WSDOT reports.

Be prepared for nighttime work on I-5, Thorne Lane in Lakewood this week

Nighttime drivers traveling north on Interstate 5 near Joint Base Lewis-McChord should expect delays this week as construction crews pave the highway.

Lane and ramp closures begin tonight on a two-mile stretch of I-5 from Berkeley Street Southwest to Gravelly Lake Drive, the state DOT reports.

Two northbound lanes will be closed tonight and Tuesday night, starting at 10 p.m. The lanes will  reopen to drivers by 5 a.m. the following day.

ALL CLEAR: Accident blocks lanes on northbound I-5 in Lakewood

A multi-vehicle collision is blocking the two left lanes on northbound Interstate 5 at Bridgeport Way in Lakewood, the state Department of Transportation reports.

The accident occurred about 4:10 p.m. State troopers and paramedics are on scene.

Traffic is backed up about 10 miles to Mounts Road, WSDOT said.

UPDATE as of 5 p.m.: All lanes are clear, WSDOT reports.

Expect northbound I-5 closures this weekend for Clover Creek Bridge work in Lakewood

Drivers are encouraged to avoid northbound Interstate 5 through Lakewood this weekend while crews finish work on the Clover Creek Bridge.

Lane closures begin at 9 p.m. Friday and extend through 5 a.m. Monday. The ramp from Gravelly Lake Drive to northbound I-5 will also close, as well as a single southbound I-5 lane.

State Department of Transportation workers are replacing two bridge slabs and repaving the bridge deck. This is the fourth and final closure for the $995,350 project.
