Both lanes of westbound state Route 16 near Wollochet are blocked this afternoon because of a crash, the state DOT reports.

Drivers are getting around the scene using the right shoulder.

Emergency responders are on the scene.

The Washington State Patrol reports that a utility truck rolled over. The crash should be cleared shortly, trooper Guy Gill tweeted just after 2 p.m.

All lanes have reopened.

The two right lanes of westbound state Route 16 over the Tacoma Narrows Bridge will close tonight as state Department of Transportation crews perform maintenance work on the road.

The lanes will be closed from 8 p.m. today (Tuesday) to 6 a.m. Wednesday. Crews will install steel shims to reinforce the roadway and repair a section of concrete.

The two left lanes will remain open to traffic, the DOT said in a news release.

Crews will close all of the electronic toll lanes across the Narrows Bridge for two nights this week so upgraded readers can be installed.

The lanes will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, from 8 p.m. each night to 4 a.m. the next morning. All vehicles will be detoured through the toll booths during the closures, the state DOT reports.

The upgrade will allow the readers to read the new and old Good to Go passes, DOT reports.

The on-ramp from 24th Street Northwest to eastbound state Route 16 in Gig Harbor will stay open during the closures.

The HOV lane of eastbound state Route 16 is blocked this morning as crews battle a car fire, the state DOT reports. Drivers are getting around the scene at Pearl Street using the right lane.

A secondary crash occurred just west of the care fire and is blocking the left lane, DOT reports.

Drivers are backed up to the Gig Harbor side of the Narrows Bridge.

A crash is blocking the right lane of eastbound state Route 16 near Wollochet Drive Northwest in Gig Harbor this morning, the state DOT reports.

Troopers and firefighters are on the scene.

UPDATE as of 8:25 a.m.: The crash and emergency vehicles have been cleared and the lane reopened to traffic.

All drivers headed eastbound on state Route 16 from Gig Harbor to Tacoma will be routed through the toll plaza starting Thursday night for semi-annual maintenance.

The 24th Street on-ramp to eastbound SR 16 also will be closed during the maintenance.

The closures are expected to last from 10 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday.

Crews in Gig Harbor will place travel restrictions on Stinson Avenue between Harborview Drive and Rosedale Street for at least a month starting Monday due to a water pipe replacement project.

The section of Stinson will be closed to southbound (uphill) travel typically from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays. The closure could begin as early as 5 a.m. the day paving occurs. Both travel lanes will be open otherwise. A detour will be in place.
