More I-5 closures in Federal Way this weekend

More nighttime closures are planned on Interstate 5 in Federal Way this weekend, according to the state Department of Transportation.

On Friday night, crews will close all I-5 southbound lanes and two northbound lanes at state Route 18. They will reopen by 7 a.m. Saturday.

Also closing Friday night are the westbound SR 18 off-ramp to southbound I-5 and the southbound I-5 off-ramp to eastbound SR 18.

On Saturday night, all northbound lanes of I-5 at SR 18 will close until 7 a.m. Sunday. The eastbound SR 18 off-ramp to northbound I-5 and northbound I-5 ramp to westbound SR 18

More nighttime closures on I-5, SR 18 in Federal Way this week

More nighttime closures are planned this week on Interstate 5 and state Route 18 in Federal Way.

Washington State Department of Transportation crews are still installing steel girders for a pair of new flyover bridges as part of a $112 million project. The ramps – one between westbound SR 18 and the other between eastbound SR 18 and northbound I-5 – are scheduled to open this fall.

Here are this week’s closures:

– The two right southbound lanes on I-5 will close at 10 p.m. tonight and reopen at 6 a.m. Tuesday.

– The northbound I-5 on-ramp from westbound SR

Closures on Interstate 5 in Federal Way this weekend

Drivers traveling through Federal Way this weekend should expect delays.

The state Department of Transportation will be closing all lanes of southbound Interstate 5 at state Route 18 by 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights. They will reopen at 7 a.m. each morning.

The closures are to allow crews to begin installing large steel girders over I-5 for two new flyover ramps. Cranes will be used to lift the girders into place.

ALL CLEAR: Crash blocks two lanes of I-5 in Federal Way

A crash is blocking two lanes of northbound Interstate 5 in Federal Way, the state DOT reports this morning.

The left and HOV lanes at South 320th Street are blocked by the crash. The crash was reported shortly after 7 a.m.

Paramedics, firefighters and DOT crews are on the scene.

8:10 a.m. UPDATE: The left lane is no longer blocked. The crash still blocks the HOV lane.

8:20 a.m. UPDATE: The crash has been cleared and all lanes reopened, DOT reports.

Westbound SR 18 in Federal Way to close tonight

A late-night closure is planned on westbound state Route 18 in Federal Way, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The lanes near Interstate 5 will be closed from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Thursday.

Drivers will be directed on a four-mile detour onto northbound I-5 to S. 320th Street, then southbound on I-5 to SR 18.

Crews are installing framework for a future flyover ramp between westbound SR 18 and southbound I-5.

Overnight closures this week on SR 18 in Federal Way

Drivers on state Route 18 in Federal Way should be prepared for overnight closures this week as crews lift concrete bridge girders into place.

The eastbound lanes near Interstate 5 will shut down from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. tonight and Tuesday night.

A nine-mile detour will send traffic from southbound Interstate 5 to 54th Avenue East before continuing on to northbound I-5.

Crews will close westbound lanes from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday nights while construction on the $112 million project continues.
