If it doesn’t rain tonight, work crews will close three of four lanes on the eastbound Tacoma Narrows bridge for pavement repair between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Saturday.

They’ll also close the 24th Street on-ramp to eastbound SR 16.

The triple-lane closure will reduce eastbound SR 16 traffic to one lane across the bridge. Eastbound motorists are advised to expect delays.

Tonight will be the second of two nights needed for crews to repair various pavement segments on the bridge.

The first night of repairs took place last night, according to WSDOT spokeswoman Claudia Bingham-Baker.

“Today crews are carefully watching the weather forecast,” Bingham-Baker said. “If it worsens, they will postpone the closures and work and reschedule on another dry night.

The pavement repairs fall under the Tacoma Narrows Bridge pavement warranty and is being be performed by design-builder Tacoma Narrows Constructors.
