Animal parts from rendering truck scattered across Interstate 5 near Lakewood

For those asking about the animal parts scattered across northbound Interstate 5 near exit 122 by Lakewood, the State Patrol said about 6 p.m. that a rendering truck had lost some of its load.

It’s not the first time that’s happened here in Pierce County.

Sounds like Monday’s spill is only blocking the right lane.

Pavement work narrows bridge

If it doesn’t rain tonight, work crews will close three of four lanes on the eastbound Tacoma Narrows bridge for pavement repair between 9 p.m. and 5 a.m. Saturday.

They’ll also close the 24th Street on-ramp to eastbound SR 16.

The triple-lane closure will reduce eastbound SR 16 traffic to one lane across the bridge. Eastbound motorists are advised to expect delays.

Tonight will be the second of two nights needed for crews to repair various pavement segments on the bridge.

The first night of repairs took place last night, according to WSDOT spokeswoman Claudia Bingham-Baker.

Rainy forecast cancels Narrows Bridge work tonight, all lanes open

Work scheduled to repair pavement on the eastbound Tacoma Narrows Bridge Wednesday has been postponed due to a wet forecast, according to the state Department of Transportation.

Crews will still reduce the stretch of state Route 16 to one lane from 9 p.m Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday.

Rain delays Narrows bridge repair work

Pavement repair work scheduled tonight through tomorrow morning on the eastbound Tacoma Narrows bridge has been canceled because of a wet weather forecast.

The pavement work is still scheduled from 9 p.m. Thursday through 5 a.m. Friday.

During that time, crews will reduce eastbound State Route 16 to one lane across the bridge.

Tonight’s work will be rescheduled for a dry night, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

CLEARED: Crash blocking State Route 302 by Purdy Spit

UPDATE as of 6 p.m. All lanes have been cleared, the state said.

INITIAL post: A crash is blocking state Route 302 by the Purdy Sand Spit, near 82nd Avenue Northwest, according to the state Department of transportation.

There are no detours at this time.

The crash happened about 5:30 p.m., the state said. The State Patrol is at the scene.

UPDATE: Motorcycle-truck crash injures man, blocks lanes of Auburn Way North

UPDATE as of 2:45 p.m. Monday: Auburn police spokesman Mike Hirman said the motorcyclist is still at Harborview, with injures that are serious, but appear not to be life-threatening. He said it seems a Dodge Dakota truck turned left in front of the motorcycle, and that there’s nothing to suggest speed, alcohol or drugs were involved.

INITIAL POST: A man suffered life-threatening injuries in a motorcycle-car crash about 6:15 p.m. in Auburn, according to the Valley Regional Fire Authority.

The motorcyclist, about 30, was taken to Harborview Medical Center. The driver of the other vehicle wasn’t injured.

CLEARED: Collision blocking lanes on SR 18 in Auburn

A collision on westbound state Route 18 in Auburn is blocking two lanes and causing 1 1/2 miles of traffic backups, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The accident happened about 8 a.m. at milepost 4.

Troopers and emergency personnel are on scene.

 

UPDATE as of 8:16 a.m.: The scene has been cleared and all lanes are open.
