South Center Street under the old Nalley Valley viaduct will be closed this weekend and part of state Route 16 will be shut down for several nights as crews continue to demolish the original roadway.
South Center Street between South Pine and Wilkeson streets will close at 9 p.m. Friday and will reopen 4:30 a.m. Monday. A detour will allow access to businesses near the viaduct from South Wilkeson Street.
All eastbound lanes of state Route 16 at Union Avenue and the Union Avenue on-ramp to eastbound state Route 16 will be closed from 12:30 to 7 a.m. Sunday.
Crews will shut down the lanes and ramp again Monday from 12:01 to 4 a.m., and from 11 p.m. Monday to 4 a.m. Tuesday.
The work is part of the project that replaces the section of eastbound state Route 16 that spans the Nalley Valley.
