CLEARED: Two-car crash blocking lanes on southbound I-5 in Tacoma

UPDATE as of 8:08 a.m.: All lanes are clear but backups continue.

INITIAL POST: A crash involving a semi-truck and a car is blocking the two right lanes of southbound Interstate 5 near Tacoma mall Boulevard, the state Department of Transportation reports.

The accident occurred just before 8 a.m. at milepost 129.

Backups extend two miles to the state Route 16 interchange.

    People should be more careful driving in this kind of weather. Accidents are never good, and they create backups for other drivers who had nothing to do with this, but are late for work nevertheless.

    NakedRat…I agree about driving more careful in this type of weather…As a matter of fact, isn’t there something in our driving rules of the road that states you should drive slower when the weather is bad?? Maybe everyone should have to take a refresher course late in the fall to remind them of how to drive in the rain and snow…
