A pilot car will provide an escort through the construction zone. The restriction will be in place from 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, to 5 a.m. Friday, Sept. 28. If needed, the restriction will also be in place from 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 28, to 7 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 29. Motorists are advised to expect delays.

I-5 to be reduced to single lane late tonight in both directions

Crews will reduce northbound Interstate 5 to one lane starting at 11 p.m. tonight between South 48th and M streets and will follow suit with the southbound freeway at 1 a.m.

They will divert traffic onto the South 38th Street collector/distributor lanes in both directions.

The on-ramps from Interstate 705 and state Route 7 will close during the southbound I-5 lane closures.

The closures will let crews finish roadway striping and install overhead signing as part of an I-5 improvement project.

The lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. in both directions.

WSDOT has also installed automated speed-enforcement cameras in the 5-mile construction zone on I-90, which issue $137 fines to drivers traveling over 60 mph.
