UPDATE as of 7:55 p.m.

Avalanche work has been completed and the road has been cleared of mud and snow.

A section of state Route 410 just east of the Chinook Pass summit will be closed until at least 8 p.m. tonight due to a mud and snow slide, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The slide is covering the roadway at milepost 72, two miles east of the pass summit. Workers are trying to remove debris from SR 410 and do avalanche control.

Officials will assess the safety of reopening the area at 8 p.m.

UPDATED: Rock slide blocks both directions of SR 7 in Alder area

A rockslide has closed both directions of state Route 7 for five miles near Eatonville, the state Department of Transportation reported.

The slide occurred Thursday night. Rocks and debris fell onto the roadway, prompting transportation crews to close SR 7 from state Route 161 and Alder Lake.

A signed detour is in place.

This isn’t the first slide to close SR 7 this year. About 300 cubic yards of rock and material covered the roadway in April.

Transportation crews will keep SR 7 closed so an analysis of the slope can be conducted.
