Visitors to Point Defiance Park on Saturday should plan for traffic backups and road closures as the Sound to Narrows race runs through.

The Mildred Street entrance will be closed to cars during the race. The Pearl Street entrance will be open but cars will not be allowed past the pond and garden areas. Drivers may park in those areas or near the go-kart track.

All areas of the park will be open to foot traffic during the race. Cars may still access the Ferry Dock and Marina. Fort Nisqually will open at noon.

Regular access to the park should be restored by 11 a.m.

  1. It would be nice to know why ALL the races, bike rides, fund raising walks held in this city cant use Pt Defiance instead of shutting down major streets in the city so a small minority can jog!
