Slides cleared from SR 7 near La Grande

The mudslides that had been blocking state Route 7 near La Grande have been cleaned up.

The state Department of Transportation had maintenance crews working on the slides starting Thursday morning. They road was back open this morning, DOT reported.

The slides occurred just outside of the La Grande city limits.

ALL CLEAR: Crash blocks two lanes of I-5 in Tacoma

UPDATED at 6:35 a.m.

Crews have cleared away the vehicles involved in a two-vehicle crash that blocked two lanes of northbound Interstate 5 near the Tacoma Dome this morning.

A semi truck hit a private contractor truck that had gotten stuck while pulling into traffic, Washington State Patrol trooper Guy Gill reported. One minor injury was reported.

The crash blocked the two right lanes.

Drivers were backed up past South 56th Street, DOT reported just after 6 a.m.

UPDATE: Traffic flowing again after chain-reaction crash on NB I-5

Traffic is flowing on northbound Interstate 5 near 38th Street after a chain-reaction collision involving eight vehicles blocked several lanes and left several motorists with minor injuries.

Trooper Guy Gill said the vehicles were all traveling in the left lane when the vehicle in front had to slow down for slowing traffic and the vehicles behind “rear-ended each other like dominoes.”

“This boils down to speed and driving too fast for these conditions and inattention,” he said.

The collision occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m.

Gill said eight people suffered minor injuries.

Part of I-705 closed tonight for work on Murray Morgan Bridge

The southbound direction of Interstate 705 will be closed tonight so crews can continue their work on the Murray Morgan Bridge.

I-705 will be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday while the contractor pours the last section of the bridge deck, the City of Tacoma reported.

The on-ramps from South Stadium Way/Commerce Street and from South Ninth Street/A Street also will be closed. Detours will be in place.

The work is weather dependent.

Nighttime closures planned this week at I-5, SR 16 interchange

Drivers should expect nighttime closures this week at the Interstate 5/ state Route 16 interchange.

Tonight through Thursday, state Department of Transportation crews will shut down two ramps at the interchange to prepare for an extended three-month closure of the northbound I-5 exit to the Tacoma City Center (Exit 133) that starts later this month as part of the Nalley Valley project.

Northbound I-5 to Tacoma City Center will close nightly from 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. Drivers will be detoured off Exit 132. Also closing nightly will be eastbound SR 16 to northbound I-5 from 11:30 p.m. to 4
