Pierce County ferry passengers who drive a vehicle onto the ferry will see rates increase more than $4 starting Tuesday.

The transition is from non-peak season rates ($16.80) to peak season rates ($21). Peak season runs from Tuesday to Sept. 30. The rate applies to all vehicles 21 feet long or less. Motorcycle rates are increasing from $9.05 to $11.30.

Walk-on passenger rates are the same year-round, and bicycles may be brought on board at no extra cost.

The ferry system provides service between Steilacoom and Anderson Island and Ketron Island.

A full list of fares can be found at www.piercecountywa.org/ferry.
