Traffic is flowing on northbound Interstate 5 near 38th Street after a chain-reaction collision involving eight vehicles blocked several lanes and left several motorists with minor injuries.
Trooper Guy Gill said the vehicles were all traveling in the left lane when the vehicle in front had to slow down for slowing traffic and the vehicles behind “rear-ended each other like dominoes.”
“This boils down to speed and driving too fast for these conditions and inattention,” he said.
The collision occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m.
Gill said eight people suffered minor injuries.
He said the all the lanes had reopened, but the backup extended at least five miles.
