UPDATE as of 1:19 p.m. Both directions of I-90 have reopened to traffic.

UPDATED at 7:50 a.m. State transportation crews have closed down both directions of Interstate 90 this morning for avalanche control work on Snoqualmie Pass.

The highway shut down at 7:30 a.m. Eastbound drivers are stopped near Denny Creek. Westbound drivers are stopped near the summit, DOT reports.

It is unknown when I-90 will reopen.

“Due to the nature of this type of work an estimate of opening time cannot be made until after the avalanche control effort takes place,” DOT reported. “Once the amount of snow that comes down is determined, an estimated time of opening will be provided.”
