2 lanes of westbound Narrows Bridge to close overnight for repairs

The two right lanes of westbound state Route 16 over the Tacoma Narrows Bridge will close tonight as state Department of Transportation crews perform maintenance work on the road.

The lanes will be closed from 8 p.m. today (Tuesday) to 6 a.m. Wednesday. Crews will install steel shims to reinforce the roadway and repair a section of concrete.

The two left lanes will remain open to traffic, the DOT said in a news release.


Crash in Kent damages power pole

A power pole was damaged early today when a downhill vehicle left the road, struck the pole and then rolled over in the street.

Puget Sound Energy crews are close to finishing up their repair work on the damaged equipment, Kent police reported just after 10 a.m. The work was expected to be completed by 11 a.m.

The crash occurred shortly after 5:30 a.m. on South 212th Street just east of state Route 167.

No one was seriously injured.

“The impact left the pole damaged to a degree warranting its replacement,” Kent police reported.

ALL CLEAR: Three lanes of northbound I-5 in Southcenter closed for emergency repair

UPDATE: All lanes were reopened at 6:40 a.m.

UPDATED at 6:10 a.m. Monday

The state DOT has closed three lanes of northbound Interstate 5 in Southcenter for emergency road repairs, leaving two lanes open for drivers.

The closure, which began about noon Wednesday, is from South 188th Street to just north of the Interstate 405 interchange. The mainline and HOV ramps from southbound I-405 to northbound I-5 also were closed.

The lanes were supposed to open around 4 a.m. Thursday. However, DOT reported early Thursday that the lanes would not be fully opened until 5:45 a.m.

ALL CLEAR: Car vs. pedestrian collision blocks northbound SR 7 in Parkland

A car versus pedestrian collision is blocking the northbound lanes of state Route 7 near 124th Street in Parkland, according to the state Department of Transportation.

The accident happened at 2:50 p.m.

Drivers can expect delays. Northbound traffic is being diverted into a southbound lane.

UPDATE as of 4:15 p.m.

All lanes are now open, WSDOT reports.


ALL CLEAR: Crash blocks westbound SR 410 in Sumner

UPDATED at 1:28 p.m.

A crash that was blocking all westbound lanes of state Route 410 state Route 167 and Traffic Avenue in Sumner has been cleared, the state DOT reported at 1:27 p.m. today.

(DOT initially reported the crash was near Bonney Lake. They corrected the information at 1:09 p.m.)

A Pierce County sheriff’s deputy witnessed the crash and was on scene. Troopers and medical aid also responded.

Drivers should expect delays.


Pavement repairs starting in Auburn Wednesday

A two-week construction project is expected to begin Wednesday on Lea Hill Road/SE 312th Street in Auburn, city officials said.

The work will take place weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. between 105th Place SE and 124th Avenue SE.

Drivers can still get through the area but traffic may be reduced to alternating one lane in each direction.

Crews will be patching pavement. The work is weather dependant.
