9/21/06 Miss Peggy, the crossing guard at North 26th. and Washington St. by Washington-Hoyt Elementary School who has been doing the job for 8 years says,”It’s still sticking my head out there that slows them down”, referring to the traffic at her intersection. “It’s better but not perfect, it’s my outfit that the best show stopper”, Peggy said. “But it has helped” she said. These are references to the flashing school zone sign hanging over her head. It is part of a $1.5 million statewide grant. (Russ Carmack/The News Tribune)
