Drivers are encouraged to avoid northbound Interstate 5 through Lakewood this weekend while crews finish work on the Clover Creek Bridge.

Lane closures begin at 9 p.m. Friday and extend through 5 a.m. Monday. The ramp from Gravelly Lake Drive to northbound I-5 will also close, as well as a single southbound I-5 lane.

State Department of Transportation workers are replacing two bridge slabs and repaving the bridge deck. This is the fourth and final closure for the $995,350 project.

Here’s more on the closures and the project.

UPDATE: Expect major slowdowns on most interstates throughout the Puget Sound for the rest of your life as the WSDOT and state government willingly does not make easing congestion a priority.
