Crews will start restriping a section Spanaway Loop Road South today.

The work, which is scheduled to last through Wednesday, is expected to impact traffic, Pierce County reports. Crews will be working on Spanaway Loop Road South from Fair Oaks Drive South to Military Road South.

When the project is completed, the roadway will feature two southbound lanes, one northbound lane and a two-way, left-turn lane. Restriping will provide more room for vehicles going south during the evening commute, the county reports.

A contractor is removing the existing striping. Pierce County public works crews will then restripe the roadway to its new configuration, the county reports.

“The new striping installation should impact drivers less than the striping removal work, and could occur as early as Wednesday of next week, depending on the weather,” the county reports.

  1. That is stupid. The same ones who use the southbound lanes in the evening is going to be using the northbound lane in the morning. Which means since there is only half of the capacity even more backups in the morning.

I find it interesting that now all the access to the South end and Graham are under construction. The 176 alley is a mess. Canyon is tore up for some reason that has no purpose that I can see. Now the loop. Meridian has sucked since they made it 4 lanes. How are we to get to the 5 under an hour if all the short cuts are blocked off? Who ever thought this schedule up was not thinking to straight or I get it they live in the North end. Thanks. When they finish the cross base in 2020 the stress will go away.

SonnyLee, I’m convinced that shortly before they ask for more tax money for roads or Transit, they screw up the traffic in order to make people demand relief….since the voting public has the attention span of a tree toad, they always seem to vote them more and more money in an effort to gain traffic relief.
