Just a reminder that your commute on Interstate 5 into Tacoma will look a little different this morning.

Over the weekend, DOT crews shifted traffic on the Nalley Valley viaduct.

Drivers going west on state Route 16 are now required to use a narrow, 15-mile-per-hour bypass route, which traffic planners say has potential of backing up traffic on I-5 for as far as three miles during peak travel times.

Freeway traffic near 38th Street have been directed onto alternate routes.

  1. Still can’t figure out that new offramp from eastbound 16 to Sprague (the one they screwed up and had to do over). It looks like a 90 degree left hand turn at the top of offramp??!! Who was smoking what when that was designed? Might as well just keep an ambulance at the offramp, they will be busy…..
