Motorists who use the State Route 165 Carbon River Bridge could experience delays of up to an hour next week as Washington State Department of Transportation bridge preservation crews inspect the structure.
Crews will intermittently close the one-lane bridge from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday. A bridge inspection truck will be on the bridge during work hours, creating the potential for delays. Flaggers will direct traffic.
Built in 1921, the single-lane bridges handled about 400 vehciles a day.
WSDOT conducted an annual inspection of the bridge in April 2010, and this month will take a look at its gusset plates, which are braces that are bolted in place and support and connect the bridge’s framework.
