The state Department of Transportation has reopened Cayuse Pass but is keeping Chinook Pass closed for a little longer.

Both mountain passes were closed last week because of heavy snowfall.

Cayuse Pass on state Route 123 reopened at noon. Crews hope to get Chinook Pass on state Route 410 open later this week.

Both passes usually close during the winter because of high avalanche danger and hazardous driving conditions.
