Great sandwiches: Olive Branch Cafe opens downtown, DiLoreto’s serves a mean BLT

Leaving behind a long career at Western State Hospital, Terry Waller opened her Olive Branch Cafe inside the Hidden Treasures antique mall in March 2012, and closed it just over a year later in search of a bigger and better space. Now, she’s open again in a downtown Tacoma neighborhood.

Much like her former location, the re-imagined Olive Branch is full of antiques and collectibles, the menu a mix of homespun sandwiches, soups and tea.

Grab and go: Two sandwich places that make a fast lunch

I recently went looking for Philly steak sandwiches (read the story here) and kept finding sandwich shops that don’t make the cheese-laden steak bombs. Although they were sans steak, I stumbled on two institutions that I really should have had on my radar before now -  Viafores in Fircrest and Hal of a Sub in downtown Tacoma.
