Food cart meetup: Tacoma’s first mobile restaurant event this Sunday at Cheney Stadium

Tacoma has food trucks and carts aplenty, but there’s no central meetup spot for trucks to gather – until now. Tacoma’s first mobile food meetup will be Sunday at Cheney Stadium. The event is free except for the cost of food. Trucks will serve everything from Southern to Filipino, from Greek to Mexican, from fried meat pies to fry bread, from ice pops to cupcakes.

Moveable Feast update: More than half of participants will be South Sound food trucks

Moveable Feast organizers checked in this week with an update of Tacoma’s first mobile food meetup on July 29 at Cheney Stadium. I was impressed to see more than half of the 35 vendors will be South Sound mobile food vendors, catering stands or local restaurants. That’s a big increase from the short list organizers had initially booked when the event was announced in early June.

Hot Diggity: Three new mobile hot dog restaurants bring franks to all corners of Pierce County

The Chicago Dog is one of 21 dogs featured at Dave’s 21 Dogs in Buckley. The cart is one of three that have opened in the last two months.

What’s this? More mobile dogs? I’ve spotted what looks to be a continuing trend on a few foodie levels: gourmet dogs and mobile food carts.

Three mobile hot dog carts and trucks have opened in the last two months, serving gourmet dogs with toppings that range from silly things like pork and beans to traditional dogs like a good ol’ Chicago and Coney Dog. I even found deep-fried bacon-wrapped deliciousness at one cart.
