Jeff Smeed might just be the hardest pedaling guy in town. Smeed, the owner of Jeff’s Ice Cream and a Westgate resident, operates a human powered bicycle delivery service that brings Washington made frozen treats to a handful of Tacoma neighborhoods.
This summer, with the weather vacillating between hotter than hot and gray, weird and drizzly, I have to wonder if a business operated by bike may not be a lot of fun. But if you talk to Smeed about his pedal ice cream delivery service, you won’t hear him complain. Ever cheerful, Smeed is a man on a mission and it’s a sweet one: he wants everyone to eat ice cream. I can get behind that.
Today, he’ll be at Frost Park serving his ice cream bars, frozen treats and paletas, delectable sounding Latin American frozen bars, at the Frost Park Chalk Off competition held at noon every Friday in downtown Tacoma.
