Everyone can be German for a day at one of these Oktoberfest celebrations:


Oktoberfest Northwest

Oct. 3-5: The big one of all Oktoberfest celebrations is held at the Washington State Fairgrounds in Puyallup. The three-day event features several pop-up restaurants serving German fare and beer stations
stocked with German brews. Check back next week for a more in-depth story. Tickets $5-$10, kids welcome until 7 p.m. Information:


Oct. 4: 11:45 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday. Boats, brats and brews are on the agenda for this waterfront fundraiser on the Foss Waterway. Check back next week for a tap and food list. Tickets are $12 in advance and $20 at the door; food and beer are individually priced. Event is for 21 and older only. Information:

Friday, Sept. 26: 7-10 p.m. A five-course Bavarian meal paired with six beers from Elysian, Pyramid, Red Hook and other Northwest breweries. On the menu: Bratwurst and spaetzle, beer-cheese soup, schnitzel beef sliders, beer-braised pork shank and black forest cheesecake. Tickets are $30; call 253-591-4163.

Bruno’s European Restaurant

Saturday-Sunday: noon-10 p.m. each day. The South Sound’s best destination for German and Eastern European fare will have its annual Oktoberfest celebration with a special menu that includes schweinebraten, potato salad, red cabbage, schweinshaxe (pork shanks), bratwurst, pretzels, bienenstich, apfelstrudel and German beers on tap. Live music from Sylvia’s Band. Also find Bruno’s at Oktoberfest Northwest, Oct. 3-5 at the fairgrounds in Puyallup.

Tanglewood Grill

Saturday: 3-6 p.m. In the bar, an Oktoberfest-themed party with food and beer specials. The menu includes beer cheese soup, pretzels with spicy beer mustard, pork schnitzel meatballs and an Oktoberfest-themed burger. Harmon Brewery and Restaurant

Monday-Oct. 3: A week of celebrating. Monday is an extended happy hour with live music; Tuesday’s menu features beer and brats with free pretzels all day; Wednesday includes wienerschnitzel and trivia; and Oct. 3 is bring-your-own-mug day (up to 24 ounces). Thursday’s event is a special paired brewmaster’s dinner; call the brewery to reserve. Sister restaurant Harmon Taproom at 204 St. Helens Ave. also will have a week of Oktoberfest events including German pub grub.
