Right about now, fall food events start seriously heating up. Here’s a look at this week’s dining events, with more to come during a busy October.

Thursday: It’s beer and bacon night at 208 Garfield. Four bacons, five beers for $10. Event begins at 6 p.m. 208 Garfield’s Erick Swenson will pair two honey-cured bacons, an applewood smoked bacon and one pepper bacon with these beers: Narrows Brewery IPA and Golden Ale, Sound Brewery Tripel Entendre, Silver City Oktoberfest and Iron Horse Irish Death. Find more information here.

Friday: If you don’t have plans this Friday, check out a Speakeasy-themed dinner from 6-9 p.m. Friday at Doyle’s Public House. Tickets are $55 and include a meal paired with whiskeys. Space is limited to 16. More details here.

Saturday: Tacoma-area food businesses will set up a vendor fair at 5 p.m. at the Wingman Brewers taproom at 509 1/2 Puyallup Ave., in the Tacoma Dome neighborhood.
Food partnerships will be the focus at the event, called Made In Tacoma. Brewer Ken Thoburn will tap a rare keg of coffee porter brewed with Tacoma’s Bluebeard Coffee Roasters, which also will be at the event selling its coffee.
Libertine Tacoma, the salt and spice blend company, will also flavor the Wingman beer with its cha-cha spice blend, a combination of cacao powder, ceylon cinnamon and cayenne pepper.
Other participating businesses will be 21 Cellars, the Tacoma winery, the ice cream company Ice Cream Social and Dave’s Meats and Produce, which will prepare and sell street tacos. More information on Made in Tacoma here.

Saturday and Sept. 24: Cookbook author Michele Morris will make two appearances to promote her new cookbook “A Taste of Washington,” which includes three recipes from Chef Hudson Slater of Maxwell’s Speakeasy + Lounge. Find Morris signing books, from 11-1:30 Saturday, outside Proctor’s Pacific Northwest Shop.  Also find Morris at a four-course dinner from 5-8 p.m. Sept. 24 at Maxwell’s Speakeasy + Lounge. Dinner will be prepared by Slater. Tickets are $50, reserve at 253-683-4115.

Saturday: Celebrate the Hub at Gig Harbor’s first year anniversary all day at the Hub, 1208 26th Ave. N.W., Gig Harbor. Food and drink specials, a raffle for a Fly and Dine package and live music. More information here.
