Coming to South Hill – Rainier Growlers, a taproom and growler fill station

South Hill is about to get a growler store and taproom offering a broad selection of craft and international beers. Russell Hooper expects his Rainer Growlers store will open this fall at 13105 Meridian Ave. E., which is in the same shopping center as Pho Tai and Ivar’s.

“The main goal is to have everything together in one location,” explained Hooper, who intends to offer international beers, national beer brands and locally brewed craft beer on tap. The taproom will have seating for in-house sipping.

“We’ll start with 40 taps to start,” noted Hooper. Here’s something interesting – the taproom will also look at offering more than a half dozen draft cider choices and Hooper is researching serving draft wine, too.

Hooper is capitalizing on a growing beer market in East Pierce, which has seen steady growth in the last few years with the addition of the NW Caps n Taps beer store in Bonney Lake, and the Puyallup River Brewing Taproom and Station U-Brew in downtown Puyallup. East Pierce already is home to three brewery taprooms – M.T. Head in Graham, Elk Head in Buckley and Powerhouse in Puyallup - and another just opened in downtown Sumner, Lake Tapps Brewing.
