Tacoma’s Food Truck Fest lineup announced; plus other dining events

The lineup for Tacoma’s Food Truck Fest on July 20 in Wright Park has been announced. I’ve also got two other food truck events for your calendar. And save the dates for these events -  wine dinners at Maxwell’s Restaurant + Lounge and JW in Gig Harbor; the Brew Five Three Festival and Gig Harbor Food and Wine festivals. Details here:

What: This free event from Metro Parks is still booking participants, but organizer Phedra Redifer so far has booked 13 trucks and mobile businesses at the one-day festival that comes with free entry and live entertainment at Wright Park. Food truck operators – now is the time to get in contact with Redifer. There’s a vendor application and more information here.
Booked trucks: Among the booked trucks are Jim Wick’s new Greek street eats truck, Finnwick’s Kitchen. Wick is the longtime owner of Tacoma’s It’s Greek To Me. Also newly booked is the Mobile Food Command Center, the new truck featuring Mexican street eats from the owners of Masa and Asado. New soul food truck Lizzie Lou’s Comfort Food will serve its fusion soul eats. Locals also are booked – Odette D’Aniello’s Celebrity Cake Studio truck, the Lumpia World truck, the Josefina’s Taco Truck and Budha Bear Bagels. Look for local businesses Pampeana Empanadas, R.J.’s burgers and the Who Dat sno cone operators. This is also your chance to test popular Seattle-area trucks Fish Basket and Jemil’s Big Easy.

Fife Food Truck Series
What: To celebrate its anniversary and a Ducati grand opening, South Sound motorcycles will host a series of events featuring Seattle-based food trucks.
When: Saturdays in July and August

The schedule: Curb Jumper Street Eats will serve July 12; Charlie’s Buns N Stuff will serve July 19; find Maximus Minimus on July 26 and Auto Pompa Pizzeria on Aug. 2.

Maxwell’s Restaurant + Lounge Wine Dinner with Va Piano Winery
When: 6:30 p.m. July 16
Where: Maxwell’s Restaurant + Lounge, 454 St. Helens Ave., Tacoma; maxwells-tacoma.com
On the menu: Five courses paired with wines from Va Piano Vineyards. A sampling of the menu includes seared ling cod with mango chutney paired with a 2012 sauvignon blanc and coriander and rosemary crusted tenderloin paired with a 2011 cabernet sauvignon.

JW Wine Dinner with Obelisco Estate Winemakers
When: 5 and 7:30 p.m. seatings, July 17
Where: JW Restaurant, 4107 Harborview Drive, Gig Harbor; jwgigharbor.com
On the menu: Five courses paired with wines from Obelisco Estate. A sampling of the menu includes seared sea scallops with champagne vanilla bean sauce and chives paired with a 2011 chardonnay and a chai tea rubbed New York strip with roasted potatoes and hand-pickled veggies with a 2010 malbec.
Tickets: $85 per person, plus a 20 percent service charge. Call 253-858-3529.

Festivals

Gig Harbor Wine and Food Festival
When: Noon-5 p.m. July 26
What: Find seminars, wine tastings and appearances from Seattle chefs Tom Douglas and Thierry Rautureau at this annual food festival.
Cost: Tickets are $75

Brew Five Three Festival
When: 1-9 p.m. Aug. 9.
What: This 21-and-older event is a beer festival that doubles as a blues festival. The block party, hosted by the Broadway Center for the Performing Arts, will take place between Ninth and 11th on Broadway.
