Dine-out event for Tacoma Community House
Oct. 24: FLAVOR, a dine-out fundraiser for Tacoma Community House. Dine at participating restaurants on Oct. 24 and 25 percent of your food bill will be donated to support TCH’s programs. Participating restaurants include Adriatic Grill, Alfred’s, Dirty Oscar’s Annex, Doyle’s Public House, El Guadalajara, El Toro, Gateway to India, Indochine Asian Dining Lounge, Il Lucano Ristorante, Infinite Soups, Joeseppi’s, Josefina’s, La Creme Brulee, La Fondita Proctor, Le-Le, Social Bar and Grill, The Funky Iguana, The Spar. Beer + ice cream = what?
Oct. 26: The bottle shop Pint Defiance is teaming up with Tacoma company Ice Cream Social for a beer-ice cream pairing featuring pumpkin beers (don’t be afraid). Taste the magic from 2-6 p.m.  Oct. 26 at Pint Defiance, 2049 Mildred St. W., Tacoma, 253-302-4240, pintdefiance.com. Also at Pint Defiance, on Oct. 30, the store will have a Halloween kickoff with pumpkin beers and party favors.

Distiller night at Crown Bar
Oct. 30: Tacoma’s Crown Bar will have a distiller event with Ben Capdevielle – of Seattle’s Captive Spirit Distilling, producers of the Big Gin brand – at 6:30 p.m.,  Oct. 30. From Crown Bar, “Ben is at the front of the pack of independent Northwest distillers who actually possesses distilling blood rights (he is a third generation distiller). Ben will be on hand to talk about and pour two superb Big Gin products, one of which is bourbon barrel aged.” Tickets are $25, and include cocktails, appetizers, tax and tip. Mt. Rainier Fall Wine Tasting
Nov. 2: The fourth Mt. Rainier Fall Wine Tasting will have visits from nine wineries, Tacoma’s Wingman Brewers and Finn River Cidery. Serving food at the event will be Papa’s Wood Fired Pizza. The tasting is 2-8 p.m. Nov. 2. at the Mt. Rainier Lions Grand Tasting Hall, 27726 State route 706 E, Ashford. Tickets are $25 (10 tastings) at the event, or $20 if purchased before Oct. 30. Gluten-Free Health and Wellness Expo
Nov. 9: The organization called Gluten Intolerance Group will host a gluten-free health and wellness expo from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Nov. 9 at the Greater Tacoma Convention and Trade Center. Organizers say the event will have cooking demonstrations, speakers and 50 vendors with tastes of gluten-free products. Admission is $5, or $3 for GIG members and children ages 13 to 17.
