Tacoma’s newest burger restaurant is going official today – four months after the neighborhood hangout opened in Stadium.

Mayor Marilyn Strickland is expected to cut a grand opening ribbon at 11 a.m. and the restaurant will hand out free shake samples and debut a few tweaks to the menu.

And here’s something you might see around your neighborhood soon – the Shake3mobile.

The new shakes to check out: Hot fudge and a tin roof shake made with Spanish peanuts, chocolate and caramel. Coming soon – when blackberries ripen – are fresh berry shakes. The restaurant recently applied for a liquor permit, which means shakes will go grownup. The Tiger Shake will get a shot of vanilla vodka (it’ll take a bit for the liquor permit to be approved). Other shakes on the “you have to try them” list – nutella, mocha banana malted, banana brulee, butter rum and miso butterscotch with salted caramel (don’t doubt that last flavor combo – unless you’re someone who hates salty-sweet things like bacon coated in brown sugar).

Diners will see bigger burgers on the menu. New dipping sauces also have been added – truffle aioli and honey mustard.

If you see a little orange truck roaming around town with the Shake logo, it really does belong to the restaurant. It debuted over the weekend at the Good Guys car show.
