Mother’s Day buffets, brunches and dinners

Remember when you could make mom a homemade card for Mother’s Day? It was cute at 4, but not at 40. You need something slightly more grown up – like taking mom out for brunch or dinner. Listed here are some safe bets for Mother’s Day on May 12. Unless otherwise noted, you should assume you need to make reservations. Check back – I’ll update this blog post with more menus as I collect them.

Brunch served with a la carte menu items and pricing. Lobster white cheddar omelet ($16), roasted corn and asparagus frittata ($14), vanilla bean brioche French toast ($13), Asado queso y jamon ($12), Asado breakfast skillet ($17). All items served with breakfast breads, fruit and Asado’s home fries.

Babblin’ Babs, 2724 N. Proctor, Tacoma, 253-761-9099, babblinbabsbistro.com.
The Proctor restaurant will serve its regular a la carte breakfast menu from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. No reservations, walk-ins only. Last seating is at 1:30 p.m.

Bite Restaurant at Hotel Murano, 1320 Broadway, Tacoma, 253-238-8000, hotelmuranotacoma.com.
Brunch served from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. with a la carte menu items and pricing. Open-faced Monte Cristo ($8), croque madame ($13), eggs Benedict royal ($14), gingerbread French toast ($11), scallop prawn linguini ($19), prime rib ($20), seafood salad ($18).

Brunch served with a la carte menu items, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Huevos rancheros ($16), grilled ham steak ($16), duck egg scramble ($18), boeuf bourguignon ($23), stuffed rainbow trout ($19).

The restaurant will serve its regular a la carte menu – with live music by the band Jam on My Muffin – from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Buffet served 9:30 a.m.-6:45 p.m. Breakfast foods, salads, seafood and more. Prices are $29.99 adults, $24.99 seniors, $12.99 kids 6-10, $5.99 kids 5 and younger.

The restaurant will serve brunch from 9:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Prices are $27.95 for adults and $12.95 for kids.

Mother’s Day is a two-day event here. Brunch is served 10 a.m.-1 p.m. May 11 and 8:30 a.m.-1 p.m. May 12. The regular dinner menu will begin at 3:30 p.m. both nights. The brunch buffet offers carved meats, salads, fruit, pastries and a large chilled seafood selection. Prices are $29.95 for adults, $13.95 for ages 6-11, free for ages 5 and younger.

Oakhouse Restaurant and Bar at Oakbrook Golf Course, 8102 Zircon Drive SW, Lakewood, 253-584-8888, rgmclub.com/oakhouse.
A brunch buffet will be served 9 a.m-2 p.m. On the menu: roast baron of beef, baked salmon, omelet station, Belgian waffles, desserts, salads. Prices are $26.99 adults, $9.99 children younger than 10, free for children younger than 3.

Two dining options – a brunch buffet and a seated dinner. Brunch will be served in the events center from 10 a.m.-3:30 p.m. A sampling of menu items: hand-carved crusted prime rib, maple and cherry glazed ham, spinach strata, berry blintz, smoked salmon, grilled steelhead, breakfast potatoes, grilled vegetable lasagna, fruits and salads. Prices are $31.95 adults, $15.95 ages 6-12, $6.95 ages 2-5. Dinner will be served from 3-9 p.m. at the restaurant.

Port of Call Restaurant at La Quinta Inn, 1425 E 27th St., Tacoma, 253-383-0146
The restaurant will host a buffet brunch from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. On the menu will be carved meats, salmon, breakfast dishes and a dessert display. Prices are $20.95 adults, $17.95 seniors 55 and younger, $11.95 children ages 5-11.

Primo Grill, 601 S. Pine St., Tacoma, 253-383-7000, primogrilltacoma.com
Brunch served with a la carte menu items from 10 a.m.-2:30 p.m. The brunch menu will include Dungeness crab frittata, smoked salmon Beneditc, pastries, grilled halibut, grilled wild salmon and more. Dinner service begins at 4:30 p.m. with the regular menu and a lamb chop special.

Spring Lake Cafe, 616 Regents Blvd., Fircrest, 253-985-0983
The restaurant will have a special Mother’s Day menu with banana bread French toast, breakfast strudel with black forest ham, brie and spinach, Dungeness crab omelets or classic eggs Benedict.

Tanglewood Grill, 3222 56th St. NW, Gig Harbor, 253-858-5555, tanglewoodgrill.com.
The regular breakfast menu will be served alongside Mother’s Day specials from 8 a.m. to noon. Dinner service will be offered. Complimentary bellini or mimosa cocktails for mom.

Toscanos Cafe and Wine Bar, 437 29th St N.E., Puyallup, 253-864-8600, toscanospuyallup.com.
The restaurant will serve its regular dinner menu, plus a Mother’s Day menu May 11 and 12. On the menu: Chicken and prawns ($20.95), Manhattan club steak ($27.95), fresh Alaskan halibut ($26.95) and rock lobster tail ($29.95).
