For your event calendar – some worthy ways to spend your dining dollars:

Dining Out For Life (April 25)
All you have to do is dine out tomorrow to raise money for the Pierce County AIDS Foundation. About 60 local restaurants are participating in the annual nationwide event. A quarter of your bill will be donated to the foundation. Full details at the foundation’s website.

My top picks, with links to my reviews: Adriatic Grill, Primo Grill, JW, Il Lucano, The Social Bar and Grill, Toscanos.

Mount Rainier Spring Wine Tasting and Beer Festival (April 27)
The fourth annual wine and beer festival is this weekend. This year’s festival features wine and chocolate pairings. Chocolates from Brix, Dove and Emily’s will be served alongside wines from Hoodsport, Madsen Family, Mill Lane, Scatter Creek and more. Featured beers come from South Sound brewers 7 Seas and Wingman. Find a complete list of brewers and wineries here.

Where: Mt. Rainier Lions Club Grand Tasting Hall, 27726 State Route 706 E., Ashford
Cost: $25 at the door, or $20 in advance. The admission includes 10 tastes, appetizers and music.
What: Wine tastes by the glass or bottle. Wine is for sale by the case, too.
Info: Event details here
Note: Kids are welcome.

Gig Harbor Beer Festival (May11)
The second annual beer festival is in two weeks. This year’s event is advertising double the number of brewers, which will be good news to anyone who didn’t get beer last year after the event ran out. A press release acknowledged last year’s crowding. Said organizer John Fosberg in the press release, “and the folks at Uptown were extremely helpful in allowing us to find ways to make more room for everything this coming year. That means more brewers (almost twice as many), more beer and shorter lines.” A portion of proceeds will benefit the Fish food bank.
When: noon-6 p.m. Saturday May 11
Where: Uptown Gig Harbor, 4701 Point Fosdick Drive, Gig Harbor
Cost: $20 tickets on sale now, $25 at the door

Note: 21 and older only
