And here comes the food tourists. Not that we’ll be complaining – Tacoma deserves the nod. Four “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” episodes that host Guy Fieri filmed in Tacoma, Parkland and Puyallup last fall will air on the Food Network beginning tonight. Tonight’s episode will feature Puyallup’s Crockett’s Public House. Bruno’s European Restaurant in Parkland will be featured Feb. 25 and Crown Bar’s episode will air March 4. Dirty Oscar’s Annex expects its episode to air sometime between March 11-April 15. Olympia already got its moment in the food spotlight – episodes filmed at Olympia’s Darby’s Cafe and Fish Tale Brew Pub aired in January and February.
Here’s an episode description and what each local restaurant cooked, although not everything may be featured on the episode.
From owner Shaun Brobak, the kitchen prepared Public House Meatballs, Mom’s Sloppy Joe, and the Fire-Grilled Artichoke. Brobak said he knows for sure they’ll feature the meatballs on the show. Read my review of Crockett’s here.
From owner Krystyna Tomaszewska “.. the dishes which the host picked were Hangover soup and Frikadelle with our Mushroom Gravy. Bruno also showed how to make pickles without vinegar.” Read my review of Bruno’s here.
Kebabs and the Crown’s beet salad were cooked for this episode. Read a previous review of Crown Bar’s menu here.
