Engine House No. 9 has made it to the big 4-0. And it’s never looked better. And I’m not just saying that because I want it to feel good about its aging self. Since X Group restaurants bought the brewpub in July 2011, the menu has been lightly tweaked for the better and head brewer Shane Johns has been brewing some interesting beers. A kriek Johns brewed this summer tapped out so quickly, I didn’t even get a chance to write about it. To celebrate their 40th anniversary this weekend, they’ll roll back some prices, revisit some old menu items and run a beer-by-the-pitcher special. Because today is National Drink Beer Day, you really should get down there and have some. Owner Jeff Paradise from X Group sent a note running down the specials all weekend:

ROLLBACK FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 28TH: CIRCA 1998
FAMOUS SOFT TACO: Veggie beef or chicken in a giant flour tortilla baked with onions, cheddar-jack cheese, lettuce, tomatoes and E9 sauce, topped with salsa and sour cream. $5.95

ROLLBACK SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 29TH: CIRCA 2001
FIRE PASTA: Chicken sauteed in spicy red chili cream sauce, tossed with linguini and topped with parmesan. $9

ROLLBACK SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 30TH: CIRCA 1978
SUPER NACHOS: With beans, cheddar-jack, black olives, green onions, tomatoes, jalapenos, salsa and sour cream. $5

BEER SPECIALS:
FRIDAY THROUGH SUNDAY: E9 Tacoma Brew Pitchers – $7.50 until the beer is gone.
