Some people take air conditioned cover when temperatures hover in the 80s. Some people head to a deck for a drink. I’m not sure where I’ll be this week, but it’s a safe bet that I won’t be eating much soup. Unless it’s chilled.
Here are drinks paired with decks and patios for summer sipping:

The drink: Beer. They’ve got loads of it.
The patio: It’s a beer garden with picnic benches surrounded by greenery. The water view is peek-a-boo, but there if you look for it. I appreciate how secluded the side garden feels. Go for lunch when it’s less busy.
Social Bar & Grill

The drink: Dark and stormy ($8), the classic rum and ginger ale drink gets a makeover here with dark rum, ginger liqueur, a ginger-sour and the orange soda, aranciata.
The patio: I can’t think of a better waterfront restaurant for viewing Tacoma’s icons. The restaurant has a back-door view of the Museum of Glass and the Tacoma Dome and LeMay are in view, too.

The drink: The cucumber lime rickey ($8.50), a classic rickey made with Hendricks gin, a splash of lime and soda and muddled with cucumbers.
The deck: A Ruston view with comfortable deck seating.
Blue Agave Mexican Grill
Where: 4729 Point Fosdick Drive N.W., Gig Harbor, 253-857-5001, blueagavemexicangrill.com
The drink: Agave Cadillac margarita ($9). It’s not too sweet – agave stands in for the typical sugary mixer – and comes with a hefty hit of orange liqueur.
The patio: Casual with a come-as-you-are vibe. The patio also has one of the best vantage points for people watching in Gig Harbor Uptown.
