So you say this is our last weekend of our so-called summer? I know where you should spend it. Drinking beer. Here are two worthy South Sound destinations.

It's supposed to be beautiful today, a final wash of late-summer sun. Get out there and drink a beer to celebrate the end of summer in the beautiful beer garden at the Harmon Tap Room.

That’s it. All. Finished. Over.

Our pseudo summer, that is. Or at least that’s what I gathered when my boss held up her fancy iPhone yesterday afternoon and showed me the forecast. I saw two sun symbols followed by a bunch of gray.

Your cue? Get out and enjoy the sun today. Because who knows when it will be this warm again. If we’re lucky, sometime in October. But don’t hold your breath. Click “more” to see my recommendations for hanging out in the sun and drinking a beer on one of my favorite water-view decks and one of my favorite outdoor beer gardens in Tacoma.

Harmon Tap Room, St. Helens neighorhood
Where: 204 St. Helens, Tacoma; 253-212-2725
Why there?: The Harmon Tap Room has a beautiful outdoor beer garden with communal picnic tables and a peek-a-boo view of the water (if you lean in and look for it). I love the hidden aspect of the courtyard beer garden, which actually does have quite a lovely garden.
What to drink: Harmon vanilla porter. I like the rich coffee tones of the porter, but the vanilla is so understated, you might miss it.
What to eat: The big green pizza, $14. A chewy, thin crust covered in basil pesto, mozarella, spinach, herbed potato slices, feta and caramelized onion. Pine nuts are a nice touch.
Tip: If you wait until Sunday to go, you’ll be in luck. Sundays are half-off tab day. You can get a pizza and two beers for under $15.

The view from the upstairs deck at Jake's is amazing. You should go spend the afternoon there.

Jake’s Bar and Bistro
Where: 215 Wilkes St., Steilacoom; 253-581-3300
Why there?: Jake’s has an upstairs deck with stunning water views.
What to drink: Anything
What to eat: Beer. Well, yeah, I know beer technically is not a meal, but at Jake’s? I can make a meal out of the beer. I had a Southern Tier Creme Brulee Imperial Milk Stout there that nearly changed my life. Sorry, folks, they don’t have that Southern Tier on tap any longer, but the good thing about Jake’s is that taps change often and Jake’s is home to one of the best craft beer selections in the area, outside of The Red Hot or Parkway Tavern.
What to do when you get there: Gaze lovingly at the beautiful view of the water. I could sit out on the roof-top deck the entire day.
