On the move: Upper Crust Bistro & Bakery loses its lease, but find its pizza and baked goods at the farmers markets

Consider Tacoma’s Upper Crust Bistro & Bakery on the move, not closed. The popular North End restaurant that served eclectic European eats and all kinds of baked goods lost its lease at the end of July, but owner Loren Robinson said he’s getting closer in narrowing a new location. His ideal neighborhoods would be Sixth or Proctor, but he said he’ll relocate to another Tacoma neighborhood if he finds the right space. Fans of Robinson’s baked goods and pastries can still find those at three farmers markets. On Saturdays, Robinson serves pizza by the slice, baked goods and pastries at the Proctor Farmers Market. On Sundays, he’s serving the same at the South Tacoma Farmers Market. On Tuesdays, he sells bread and pastries at the Sixth Avenue Farmers Market.

A lost lease isn’t going to beat Robinson’s plan for expanding. Here’s what he had to say, “This is a hard situation, but we are viewing it as a stepping stone.” Robinson is baking out a commercial kitchen while he searches for new space.  Robinson opened Upper Crust Bistro & Bakery in 2007 with business partner and fellow baker Leo Nichols.
