The Twisted Kilt Irish Pub had a soft opening over the weekend, but the owners don’t expect they’ll fully be in business until later this week or possibly next week. The holdup is an inspection of a venting hood in the kitchen. I wrote about the downtown Irish pub and restaurant last week.
Owner Bryan Purdy told me by phone this morning that the restaurant would be closed this week because they prefer to open serving a full menu instead of the soups and sandwiches they served over the weekend. The problem: No hood signoff, no cooking or frying anything that generates cooking fumes. Purdy said he believed the hood permitting holdup is simply a paperwork problem, but he would know more after an inspector with the city of Puyallup comes out to inspect the hood.
Purdy is hoping Thursday will be the official opening day. Check back here later this week for an update.
