The buzz on Twitter yesterday was that Maxwell’s Restaurant + Lounge was rumored to be closing.
Not so says Executive Chef Matt Colony, who also runs the daily operations at Maxwell’s. If the restaurant is closing, that’s news to him. That’s good news for us burger lovers. The Walker Burger lives. (Not to mention the divine farro risotto of which I am newly obsessed).
The rumor of closure is nothing new to Colony, who has heard – from the rumor mill – for two years that his restaurant is on the brink. By email, he told me the restaurant has its ups and downs but they are not losing money. He also pledges to keep doing his job every day and has no intention of doing anything else.
Now let’s get down to Maxwell’s for a Walker burger, shall we?
