Seattle-based Ivar’s Seafood Bar will open a restaurant in Puyallup in April at 13101 Meridian Ave. E. The fast food fish and chips restaurant will move into the old Del Taco location that closed last year. Dining tip: Ivar’s will be in the same shopping complex as the wonderfully inexpensive Vietnamese restaurant Pho Tai.

I usually don’t write about chain restaurants, but I make an exception for locally founded chains like Ivar’s. Locals who are native to Western Washington (me included) grew up eating the fish and chips at Ivar’s, which got its start on the Seattle waterfront in 1938.

An Ivar’s previously operated on South Hill, from 1980 to 1999, but closed because the location was not ideal. This will be the 26th location for the fast-casual fish and chips restaurant.
